About Aviatle — Educational Aviation Telemetry Game
Aviatle is a free educational platform for aviation enthusiasts, student pilots, flight-simulator communities, and geography fans. Each puzzle challenges you to identify a real international airport, aircraft type, airline, or flight route by interpreting progressive clues drawn from public aeronautical data.
The airport dataset contains over 5,000 large and medium airports with IATA codes, derived from the public-domain OurAirports database and enriched with runway information. Aircraft mode covers commercial airliners, regional jets and turboprops, military transports, business jets, and general-aviation types. Airline mode covers 30 major carriers from every populated continent. Route mode pairs a known departure airport with distance and bearing clues to a hidden destination.
All figures are for educational and entertainment use only and must never be used for real-world navigation or flight planning.
How to Play Aviatle
- Choose International Airports, Aircraft Categories, Airlines, or Route.
- Select Daily Puzzle (same target worldwide via UTC), Weekly Challenge, or Unlimited Practice.
- Read the first unlocked clue. Type a guess (name, IATA/ICAO, city, or aircraft/airline name). Autocomplete helps.
- An incorrect guess unlocks the next clue. Correct identification ends the round.
- Share your result with the "Copy Intelligence Brief" button, or check your stats page to track streaks over time.
Aviation Telemetry & Parameter Glossary
- IATA vs. ICAO codes: IATA (3 letters) for tickets; ICAO (4 letters) for flight plans and ATC. See the full explainer.
- Field elevation: Height above mean sea level. High elevation reduces aircraft performance.
- Runway count and longest runway: Determine the largest aircraft that can operate regularly.
- Max landing / design aircraft: Practical indicator of infrastructure capability (Code C/D/E/F).
- Engine architecture: High-bypass turbofans, turboprops, turbojets, piston engines.
- Range and capacity: Help distinguish aircraft families.
- Great-circle distance and bearing: The shortest path and initial compass heading between two points on the globe — used in Route mode.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many airports are included?
More than 5,000 large and medium airports that have IATA codes, drawn from OurAirports public data and filtered for scheduled service or significant size.
How is the daily challenge synchronized?
Daily puzzles are seeded from the UTC calendar date so every player worldwide sees the same target.
Can I use the data for real flight planning?
No. Data is approximate and educational only. Always consult official AIPs and approved tools.
Does Aviatle require an account?
No. Everything runs in the browser, including your stats and streaks. See the Privacy Policy for cookies and advertising.
How does Route mode work?
You're given a real departure airport plus the great-circle distance and initial compass bearing to a hidden destination, then narrowed down by continent and country. It tests route geography rather than airport trivia.
